Four Summer Holiday Favourites ☀️️✈️👜

The warm weather has come to Edinburgh this week and I’m celebrating by chatting about some of my favourite Summer buys.

1) Soap & Glory’s Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion

Price: £11.00, 50ml

Glow Job is a tinted moisturiser which gives your skin a delightful summer tan, without your ever needing to step out in the sun. The product leaves skin feeling soft, subtle and well cared for. Also, the 50ml bottle is the perfect size to slip into your carry-on bag, wherever you’re headed this Summer!

2) Toms Canvas Shoes in Grey Drizzle

Price: £41.99

These shoes by Toms are ideal for your Summer getaway. The lightweight canvas fabric is breathable and stretches to give your feet maximum comfort. Latex technology is used to ensure that your arches are perfectly supported, whether you’re strolling around Barcelona, or catching some rays on the beach.

Toms Canvas Shoes come in a wide array of colours to match your style and personality. Grey Drizzle is my personal favourite, as it can easily be incorporated into most outfits. And the best bit? For every pair of shoes you buy, Toms will donate another pair to a child in need. Fashion AND social responsibility? I’m in!

3) Soap & Glory’s Solar Powder Bronzer

Price: £11, 9g

Solar Powder is a pigmented, blendable and long-lasting bronzer. A quick dusting of this powder will give you a rich holiday glow, long after your vacation ends!

4) Hotel Chocolat Iced Frappé

Price: £3.95

This delightfully chocolatey iced drink by Hotel Chocolat is the perfect way to cool off in the hot Summer weather. The frappé is made from Hotel Chocolat’s high quality artisan chocolate (who needs syrup anyway?!) The deep chocolatey flavour is rich, but not too sweet and the drink is topped off with a light cocoa whip (a rich chocolate infused cream). With flavours like Salted Caramel Brownie and White Chocolate to choose from, there really is something for everyone.

Have you tried out any of these products? And what are your favourite Summer buys? Until next time!

A Firm Favourite: Soap & Glory’s Up-toned Girl Review

Hey there everyone! Summer is just around the corner and I’m getting beach ready! Apart from cleaning up my eating habits (there’ll be less chocolate cookies in my cupboard for a while!) and hitting the gym, I’m also testing out a firming product for the first time ever! Soap & Glory’s Up-toned girl is a body lotion with a difference and, when applied daily, it smoothes the skin and firms up troublesome areas. Here’s what I thought of the product:

Packaging: 5/5

Up-toned girl comes in a convenient pump bottle and, as ever, I love the cheeky vintage pin-up on the packaging. I also like the stylish colour scheme and the luxurious look of the pink and silver design.

Smell: 5/5

The product contains coconut, almond and grapeseed oils and has a fresh, mildly fruity scent.

Performance: 5/5

Up-toned Girl has a light formula which absorbs well into the skin, leaving even the least moistured areas feeling soft and well-cared for; a must in the dry Summer weather! I loved how Soap & Glory’s illuminating ‘Flatterspheres’ gave my skin a healthy and natural Summer glow.

Up-toned Girl is an excellent body lotion, even without its unique selling point; Soap & Glory’s ‘Self-Taut Technology’, a secret formula which firms, tones and moisturises the skin. Now, when it comes to toning, nothing can beat a healthy diet and frequent exercise, but I am pleasantly surprised with the results of this product.  Over the last two weeks, the cellulite on my legs has cleared up considerably and my skin is feeling so much softer! I will definitely be re-buying.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s review and that you’re enjoying the Summer weather wherever you are. I’d love to know; what are your Summer beauty must-haves?

Until next time!

Beauty Hacks: The Mixed-up Makeup Challenge

Hey everyone! We’re back to makeup again this week and I’m feeling like experimenting! I’ve challenged myself to do my makeup by applying products in ways they weren’t initially intended.

  1. Blusher as Eyeshadow

Soap & Glory’s Peach Party Blusher is a pretty-in-pink colour wheel (£11.00 in Boots), which works perfectly as an eyeshadow  substitute. I simply dabbed on a little of the salmon pink shade using an Ecotools eyeshadow brush from their 6 Piece Brush Set (£15.99 in Boots) and I was good to go.

  1. Lipstick as Blusher

I dabbed a little of my Colour Sensational Lipstick by Maybelline (Fuchsia Flash, £6.99 in Superdrug) onto the apple of my cheeks to replace blusher and I was pleasantly surprised with the result! However, I would recommend keeping clear of sticky lipsticks when trying out this beauty hack.

  1. Eyeshadow as Eyeliner

I used a thin lip brush from my Ecotools set to brush ‘Creep’ from Urban Decay’s Naked 1 Palette (£39.50, Debenhams) onto my lids in lieu of eyeliner and it turned out pretty well! Still, nothing  beats a good liquid eyeliner.

  1. Blusher as Lip-gloss

This is another one I wasn’t sure would work very well! I used Soap & Glory’s Love At First Blush Cheek Stick [£8.00 in Boots] instead of a lip-gloss. I prefer a fuller coverage, but the blusher gave my lips a delightful pink-tinted shimmer which would look gorgeous over lipstick.

  1. Highlighter as Primer

I usually use Soap & Glory’s Hocus Focus Highlighter [£11.00 from Boots] to contour, but this time I decided to get creative! I massaged 2 pumps of the highlighter onto my face, before adding foundation, bronzer and powder on top. I loved the effect, as the highlighter/primer softened the appearance of my pores and gave my skin a delightful glow.

So, what’s my verdict? I loved these hacks and I was happy with the finished look. Still, I think that in the future I will be applying my makeup where it belongs!

As always, I’d love to know what you all think of this look. Have a great week!

From Wild to Wonderful: Eyebrow Hacks and Beauty Review

Long have I longed for fuller, sexier, more dramatic eyebrows and recently, I tried out Soap & Glory’s Archery DIY Brow Bar [£12.00 for 5.6g in Boots] to see if it could give me just that. Soap & Glory’s offering is a 4-in-1 product, which includes 2 shades of powder, a highlighter and a wax to set and define your brows. It also includes two feathered mini-brushes. Here’s what I thought:

Packaging: 5/5

Soap & Glory have done it again! The Archery DIY Brow Bar is compact, handbag friendly and beautifully designed. As I am always on-the-go, I also like that the product doubles up as a pocket mirror, which is ideal for topping up your makeup on the bus or tube.

Product: 5/5

The quality of the powder is one of my favourite things about the Archery DIY Brow Bar. The chocolate brown shade perfectly complemented my dark hair colouring, but the fairer haired amongst you can mix the brown and blonde shades to match your natural eyebrow colour. Meanwhile, the highlighter adds extra impact when applied to the arch of the eyebrow. Finally, the wax was one of my favourite things about the set; I’d never thought about using wax to texturize my brows before and I loved the finished look!

Value: 5/5

At  £12.00, I think that the Archery DIY Brow Bar is good value for money. The products are of a high quality and the mirror and brushes come in very handy. I would particularly recommend this product to anyone travelling over Summer, as the Archery DIY Brow Bar gives you everything that you’ll need to create impactful brows on-the-go.

My top eyebrow tips:

  • Know which brow shape you’re aiming to create: for example, I have a heart shaped face, so I use makeup to enhance the curve of my eyebrow arch and create the illusion of a softer jawline.
  • Getting your eyebrows threaded is more painful than plucking or waxing, however the arch will be crisper and the results will last much longer.
  • When doing your makeup, blend different shades of powder to match your hair colour. This will make the finished look appear much more natural.
  • Finish off by applying concealer above and below your brows for a crisper finish.

I hope that you enjoyed my post and I’d love to know your favourite eyebrow hacks.

Until next time! Danielle xx

10-Minute Makeup Tips for the Girl who is Always Late

It’s 08.45am and you have to dash out to your 09.00am lecture PRONTO. You may be in rush, but have no fear; there is still plenty of time to create a fab, fresh-faced makeup look. Here’s my top beauty tips for girls in a rush:

  1. Moisturise and apply sun protection

You can’t build anything on bad foundations, so don’t forget to care for your skin!

img_2399
Soap & Glory’s Speed Plump Moisturiser has become a firm favourite of mine. It hydrates my skin and it smells divine, with a strong hint of watermelon (£13.00 for 50ml in Boots)

2. Time is of the essence!

When I’m in a rush, I usually put 3 up-tempo songs on a playlist. I then have to use those 9-10 minutes to finish my makeup and get out the door- sharpish!

img_2379
These cheek sticks from Soap & Glory are a great time-saver as they can easily be applied on the bus or tube, meaning that you don’t have the added worry of faffing around with powder and brushes! (£8.00 for 14.4g in Boots)
img_2285
I am in love with this rich and rosy colour ❤

3. Start with what matters most to you:

I suffer from uneven, blemished skin, so concealer and foundation are a must for me! Dusting off my nose with a little powder helps to hide the grease on my pesky T-zone.

img_2383
Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder by Soap & Glory (£12.00 for 7g in Boots)

4. Eyes on the prize

A dusting of champagne  eyeshadow will instantly brighten up sleepy eyelids, whilst a quick lashing of mascara will open up your eyes and make you seem more awake.

5. Distract the eye

Opt for a bold lip colour. This will distract the eye from imperfections and give your makeup are more ‘finished’ look.

6. Smell fresh, feel fresh

So, you didn’t get up early enough to shower this morning? No problem! A quick spritz of body spray will leave you smelling fresher than your morning coffee.

I am loving the Smoothie Star Body Spray by Soap & Glory right now, as I find the scent of almond and vanilla utterly irresistible! (£4.00 for 100ml in Boots)

7.  Be disciplined

Undoubtedly, punctuality and eating a healthy breakfast are much more important than having beautifully contoured cheeks, so stick to your time limit! It’s also great to embrace having makeup-free days regularly. Makeup can dry out the skin and clog pores, whilst parabens in your favourite products can even break down collagen, making you age prematurely. This means that having a couple of makeup-free days per week can be great for your skin!

I hope that you enjoyed my post and I’d love to hear your tips for busy mornings. Until next time!

2. Moisture Foundation- The Body Shop

Price: £15.00 for 30ml

Danielle says: “I really like this foundation because it offers excellent coverage and feels light. It is a perfect base for a fresh-faced Spring look. 3. Kick-Ass Concealer- Soap & Glory

Price: £10.00 for 7.7g

Yasmin says: “Fresh looking skin is always a key trend for Spring, but that doesn’t mean our skin cooperates and actually looks fresh. Soap and Glory’s Kick-Ass Concealer is a 3-step solution to eliminating blemishes and dullness to achieve a fresh glow. I love that it comes with a powder for sealing your concealer, as this is the best way to ensure your concealer stays put and looks perfectly blended in to skin.”

4. Naked Flushed Palette in ‘Streak’- Urban Decay

Price: £25.00 for 14g

Yasmin says: “Everything you need for flushed, glowing skin all in one palette! This trio provides you with a bronzer, a highlight and a blush, making it a perfect companion for  Spring travelling. The powders are super silky and the shades blend together seamlessly, giving you with sculpted, glowing cheeks.”

5. Sunbeam Highlighter- Benefit

Price: £21.50 for 13ml

Yasmin says: “This highlighter is literally a sunbeam in a bottle! It adds gentle luminosity, making your skin look healthy and dewy – perfect for Spring. Plus, it feels super light due to its liquid formula; you can even mix a little in with your foundation for an all-over glow. This is a particular favourite of mine as it is such a natural looking highlight, giving you the ‘lit from within’ look.”

Danielle says: “The dreamy colours in this Urban Decay palette are perfect for creating a fresh-faced Spring look. The eyeshadow is durable and works particularly when paired with Urban Decay’s primer potion. Despite being an expensive product, Naked 2 is definitely worth its price-tag because the eyeshadow is highly pigmented and a little goes a long way.”

7. Liquid Velvet Matte Lipstick in ‘Wonderland’- Ciaté London

Price: £17.00 for 6.5 ml

Get The Glossip: Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss Review

Hey there everyone! This week I’ve been testing out these beauties; Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Glosses. Here’s my beauty verdict:

smp

Packaging: 5/5

I love Soap & Glory’s tongue in cheek advertising and Sexy Mother Pucker’s badass  packaging. The brush has a very functional shape, helping you to coat even the most stubborn corners of your pout.

SMP1.jpg

Feel: 5/5

Sexy Mother Pucker is a unique product, which uses ‘Superfill’ plumping technology and ‘Lipswell’ natural plant oil infusion to enhance your pout. I love the gloss’ gentle tingling effect. The formula is also very smooth and non-sticky, so it has a definite advantage over many other glosses that I’ve tried.

Sexy Mother Pucker in Nudestar over my favourite liquid lipstick 💄

Appearance: 5/5

I rarely use lip gloss, because I prefer  the high pigmentation of liquid lipsticks. However, I’ve found that by applying Sexy Mother Pucker in Nudestar or Spun Sugar on top of my favourite liquid lipstick, I can transform my casual day makeup into a shimmery night out look.

If you’re a lip gloss girl, then you have a lot to choose from, as Sexy Mother Pucker comes in 7 different shades. Nudestar and Spun Sugar will give your evening makeup that extra little bit of sparkle, whilst Bare Enough and Pink-Out-Loud will complete any natural daytime look.

smp2

Performance: 5/5

My lips looked fuller after applying this lip gloss. The product was also very durable and I only had to top it up every couple of hours.

Value: 5/5

At £9.00 for 7ml from Boots, I think that Sexy Mother Pucker is  good value for money. I love the versatility of the product and its lip plumping formula is really unique. I’d definitely recommend this gloss as an addition to your  Valentine’s Day look; whether you’re heading out on a date, or going out for cocktails  with your girlfriends.

I’d love to hear what you guys thought of this product and which lip products you swear by. Let me know in the comments.

Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend? Beauty Review: Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Diamond

Hey everyone!

I hope that you’re having a wonderful week. With Galentines Day just around the corner, I’m super excited to post my first ever beauty review!

Let’s start with the brand; inspired by 1950’s pin-ups, Soap & Glory are all about natural beauty and the fun and fearless expression of femininity. Today I’ll be reviewing the Diamond Edition of Soap & Glory’s award-winning The Righteous Butter.

The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition uses the same formula as the original. However, it is enhanced with luxurious pearlescent mica powder, which gives the skin an ethereal shimmer.

It’s the diamond every girl wants this February…

 Here’s your beauty breakdown:

Packaging: 4/5

The pink packaging and shimmery label are both very pleasing on the eye. I did however miss the iconic Soap & Glory pin-ups!

Appearance: 5/5

The formula has a thick, creamy texture and a long-lasting glittering effect. I would recommend the original version of The Righteous Butter for daytime use, but the indulgent Diamond Edition is a dreamy addition to your pre- night out beauty routine.

Scent: 5/5

Soap & Glory’s Original Pink fragrance is fresh and feminine. Zesty citrus, sweet summer fruit, flowers and a soft woody base combine for a fresh fragrance which avoids excessive sweetness.

Soap & Glory fragrances are developed by expert perfumers, whose long-lasting formulas leave you smelling gorgeous throughout the day and night. I like to keep a bottle of S&G Original Pink Body Spray in my handbag, to top up the flirty fragrance whenever I  need that something a little extra.

Butter 2.jpg

Performance: 5/5

Soap & Glory body butters are a dream, and the Righteous Butter Diamond Edition is no exception. Unlike many body butters, The Righteous Butter absorbs very quickly into your skin, which is great if you are always dashing out to work or lectures. The butter  conditions your skin, leaving you feeling soft and sassy.

Value: 5/5

The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition is a fab product, and the best bit? It’s actually affordable! Retailing at £10 for 300ml in Boots, I am yet to find a body butter which beats this on price and quality.

From girl-to-girl, at the moment Boots are also offering a free gift when you spend £11 with Soap & Glory; so it’s a great time treat your girlfriends in time for Galentines Day.

The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition: It’s the diamond every girl wants this February…

My final semester at university has been stressful, but indulging in a little The Righteous Butter every morning has really helped me gear-up for the busy day ahead. I love the quality of the product and the price is student friendly. Would I recommend The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition?  Definitely.

Have you tried The Righteous Butter, or any other Soap & Glory products? What did you think?
