Four Summer Holiday Favourites ☀️️✈️👜

The warm weather has come to Edinburgh this week and I’m celebrating by chatting about some of my favourite Summer buys.

1) Soap & Glory’s Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion

Price: £11.00, 50ml

Glow Job is a tinted moisturiser which gives your skin a delightful summer tan, without your ever needing to step out in the sun. The product leaves skin feeling soft, subtle and well cared for. Also, the 50ml bottle is the perfect size to slip into your carry-on bag, wherever you’re headed this Summer!

2) Toms Canvas Shoes in Grey Drizzle

Price: £41.99

These shoes by Toms are ideal for your Summer getaway. The lightweight canvas fabric is breathable and stretches to give your feet maximum comfort. Latex technology is used to ensure that your arches are perfectly supported, whether you’re strolling around Barcelona, or catching some rays on the beach.

Toms Canvas Shoes come in a wide array of colours to match your style and personality. Grey Drizzle is my personal favourite, as it can easily be incorporated into most outfits. And the best bit? For every pair of shoes you buy, Toms will donate another pair to a child in need. Fashion AND social responsibility? I’m in!

3) Soap & Glory’s Solar Powder Bronzer

Price: £11, 9g

Solar Powder is a pigmented, blendable and long-lasting bronzer. A quick dusting of this powder will give you a rich holiday glow, long after your vacation ends!

4) Hotel Chocolat Iced Frappé

Price: £3.95

This delightfully chocolatey iced drink by Hotel Chocolat is the perfect way to cool off in the hot Summer weather. The frappé is made from Hotel Chocolat’s high quality artisan chocolate (who needs syrup anyway?!) The deep chocolatey flavour is rich, but not too sweet and the drink is topped off with a light cocoa whip (a rich chocolate infused cream). With flavours like Salted Caramel Brownie and White Chocolate to choose from, there really is something for everyone.

Have you tried out any of these products? And what are your favourite Summer buys? Until next time!

Beauty Hacks: The Mixed-up Makeup Challenge

Hey everyone! We’re back to makeup again this week and I’m feeling like experimenting! I’ve challenged myself to do my makeup by applying products in ways they weren’t initially intended.

  1. Blusher as Eyeshadow

Soap & Glory’s Peach Party Blusher is a pretty-in-pink colour wheel (£11.00 in Boots), which works perfectly as an eyeshadow  substitute. I simply dabbed on a little of the salmon pink shade using an Ecotools eyeshadow brush from their 6 Piece Brush Set (£15.99 in Boots) and I was good to go.

  1. Lipstick as Blusher

I dabbed a little of my Colour Sensational Lipstick by Maybelline (Fuchsia Flash, £6.99 in Superdrug) onto the apple of my cheeks to replace blusher and I was pleasantly surprised with the result! However, I would recommend keeping clear of sticky lipsticks when trying out this beauty hack.

  1. Eyeshadow as Eyeliner

I used a thin lip brush from my Ecotools set to brush ‘Creep’ from Urban Decay’s Naked 1 Palette (£39.50, Debenhams) onto my lids in lieu of eyeliner and it turned out pretty well! Still, nothing  beats a good liquid eyeliner.

  1. Blusher as Lip-gloss

This is another one I wasn’t sure would work very well! I used Soap & Glory’s Love At First Blush Cheek Stick [£8.00 in Boots] instead of a lip-gloss. I prefer a fuller coverage, but the blusher gave my lips a delightful pink-tinted shimmer which would look gorgeous over lipstick.

  1. Highlighter as Primer

I usually use Soap & Glory’s Hocus Focus Highlighter [£11.00 from Boots] to contour, but this time I decided to get creative! I massaged 2 pumps of the highlighter onto my face, before adding foundation, bronzer and powder on top. I loved the effect, as the highlighter/primer softened the appearance of my pores and gave my skin a delightful glow.

So, what’s my verdict? I loved these hacks and I was happy with the finished look. Still, I think that in the future I will be applying my makeup where it belongs!

As always, I’d love to know what you all think of this look. Have a great week!

From Wild to Wonderful: Eyebrow Hacks and Beauty Review

Long have I longed for fuller, sexier, more dramatic eyebrows and recently, I tried out Soap & Glory’s Archery DIY Brow Bar [£12.00 for 5.6g in Boots] to see if it could give me just that. Soap & Glory’s offering is a 4-in-1 product, which includes 2 shades of powder, a highlighter and a wax to set and define your brows. It also includes two feathered mini-brushes. Here’s what I thought:

Packaging: 5/5

Soap & Glory have done it again! The Archery DIY Brow Bar is compact, handbag friendly and beautifully designed. As I am always on-the-go, I also like that the product doubles up as a pocket mirror, which is ideal for topping up your makeup on the bus or tube.

Product: 5/5

The quality of the powder is one of my favourite things about the Archery DIY Brow Bar. The chocolate brown shade perfectly complemented my dark hair colouring, but the fairer haired amongst you can mix the brown and blonde shades to match your natural eyebrow colour. Meanwhile, the highlighter adds extra impact when applied to the arch of the eyebrow. Finally, the wax was one of my favourite things about the set; I’d never thought about using wax to texturize my brows before and I loved the finished look!

Value: 5/5

At  £12.00, I think that the Archery DIY Brow Bar is good value for money. The products are of a high quality and the mirror and brushes come in very handy. I would particularly recommend this product to anyone travelling over Summer, as the Archery DIY Brow Bar gives you everything that you’ll need to create impactful brows on-the-go.

My top eyebrow tips:

  • Know which brow shape you’re aiming to create: for example, I have a heart shaped face, so I use makeup to enhance the curve of my eyebrow arch and create the illusion of a softer jawline.
  • Getting your eyebrows threaded is more painful than plucking or waxing, however the arch will be crisper and the results will last much longer.
  • When doing your makeup, blend different shades of powder to match your hair colour. This will make the finished look appear much more natural.
  • Finish off by applying concealer above and below your brows for a crisper finish.

I hope that you enjoyed my post and I’d love to know your favourite eyebrow hacks.

Until next time! Danielle xx

Easter Candy-Inspired Makeup Tutorial 🍭

Hey everyone! This week I’m celebrating Easter early with this fab candy-inspired makeup look.

All of the products used in this tutorial were applied using my much-loved brushes from EcoTools. I have the 6-piece Bamboo Set (£15.99, Boots), the Sheer Finish Brush (£7.99, Boots) and the Define and Highlight Set (pictured below, £11.99, Boots). They are made from recycled materials and, in addition to being incredibly soft, they are also cruelty free!

As Easter is all about fresh, glowing skin, I began by priming my face using a little of Soap & Glory’s Hocus Focus ‘Illuminator’ (£11.00 for 30ml, Boots).  This product has a slight shimmer and is perfect for creating a fresh-faced daytime look.

Next, I used my Moisture Foundation from The Body Shop (£ 15.00 for 30ml) to give my skin extra coverage and colour. I love this foundation because it contains SPF 15 and it is perfect for enjoying the sun guilt-free. The formula is light and as it is slightly tinted, it gives you a healthy Summer tan (something which is hard to come by in Scotland!)

Binging on chocolate at Easter means one thing; spots! To hide my pesky skin imperfections, I applied a little of Soap & Glory’s Kick Ass Concealer (£10.00 for 5.2g, Boots). What I love about the Kick Ass Concealer is that it is a 2-in-1 product, which features a pink-toned formula for covering up spots and a yellow-toned one for brightening up the undereye area. Both formulas are highly pigmented and the Kick Ass concealer does a great job of giving my skin a flawless finish.

To contour my face, I applied Soap & Glory’s Solar Powder Bronzer (£11.00 for 9g, Boots) in the shape of a number 3 over the side of my face and cheeks. I then dusted a little bronzer onto the sides of my nose and blended using a EcoTools fan brush.

Next, I used a concealer brush to dab a little more of Soap & Glory’s Hocus Pocus Illuminator onto my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose. To finish off my cheeks, I applied Soap & Glory’s Peach Party Blusher (£11.00 for 7g, Boots) to the apples of my cheeks with an EcoTools blusher brush.  I just adore this product’s rich, natural looking colour. Don’t be scared by all the sparkle!

As this was a candy- inspired look, I opted to use a sugary shade of pink on my eyelids. My chosen shade was ‘Pink-tuative’ from Soap & Glory’s The Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette (£13.00, Boots). After blending, I also applied a little of the shade ‘Mauve Over’ to my crease, thus creating greater depth.

After a quick lashing of Soap & Glory’s Supercat Eyeliner (£6.00 from Boots- it’s a bargain!)  and Thick And Fast Mascara (£10.00, Boots), I was almost ready to go! I love Supercat because, unlike many felt tip eyeliners, it is highly pigmented. Also, the product is long-lasting, letting me enjoy my cat eyes all day (and night!)

Last, but certainly not least, I gave my lips some attention. For this candy-inspired tutorial, I opted for Soap and Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick in ‘Cerise Please’ (£9.00, Boots). The lipstick smells faintly of vanilla (win!) and its highly-pigmented colour is just perfect for a bold Spring look!

To finish off, I blended my makeup with a little of Revlon’s Colourstay Pressed Powder (£10.00,  Boots) and I was good to go!

Here is a picture of the finished look!

I’d love to know what you think of this makeup look. What are your Easter plans? 🐣 🍫🍭

Danielle says: “I really like this foundation because it offers excellent coverage and feels light. It is a perfect base for a fresh-faced Spring look. 3. Kick-Ass Concealer- Soap & Glory

Price: £10.00 for 7.7g

Yasmin says: “Fresh looking skin is always a key trend for Spring, but that doesn’t mean our skin cooperates and actually looks fresh. Soap and Glory’s Kick-Ass Concealer is a 3-step solution to eliminating blemishes and dullness to achieve a fresh glow. I love that it comes with a powder for sealing your concealer, as this is the best way to ensure your concealer stays put and looks perfectly blended in to skin.”

4. Naked Flushed Palette in ‘Streak’- Urban Decay

Price: £25.00 for 14g

Yasmin says: “Everything you need for flushed, glowing skin all in one palette! This trio provides you with a bronzer, a highlight and a blush, making it a perfect companion for  Spring travelling. The powders are super silky and the shades blend together seamlessly, giving you with sculpted, glowing cheeks.”

5. Sunbeam Highlighter- Benefit

Price: £21.50 for 13ml

Yasmin says: “This highlighter is literally a sunbeam in a bottle! It adds gentle luminosity, making your skin look healthy and dewy – perfect for Spring. Plus, it feels super light due to its liquid formula; you can even mix a little in with your foundation for an all-over glow. This is a particular favourite of mine as it is such a natural looking highlight, giving you the ‘lit from within’ look.”

7. Liquid Velvet Matte Lipstick in ‘Wonderland’- Ciaté London

Price: £17.00 for 6.5 ml

Danielle says: “Wonderland is a bright matte pink, which is perfect for Spring. My favourite thing about this liquid lipstick is its vivid colouration. The product feels light and once it has dried, the Liquid Velvet Matte Lipstick has real staying power. I also love its precision tip applicator, which gives you a perfectly defined pout without ever needing lip liner.”

Get The Glossip: Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss Review

Hey there everyone! This week I’ve been testing out these beauties; Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Glosses. Here’s my beauty verdict:

smp

Packaging: 5/5

I love Soap & Glory’s tongue in cheek advertising and Sexy Mother Pucker’s badass  packaging. The brush has a very functional shape, helping you to coat even the most stubborn corners of your pout.

SMP1.jpg

Feel: 5/5

Sexy Mother Pucker is a unique product, which uses ‘Superfill’ plumping technology and ‘Lipswell’ natural plant oil infusion to enhance your pout. I love the gloss’ gentle tingling effect. The formula is also very smooth and non-sticky, so it has a definite advantage over many other glosses that I’ve tried.

Sexy Mother Pucker in Nudestar over my favourite liquid lipstick 💄

Appearance: 5/5

I rarely use lip gloss, because I prefer  the high pigmentation of liquid lipsticks. However, I’ve found that by applying Sexy Mother Pucker in Nudestar or Spun Sugar on top of my favourite liquid lipstick, I can transform my casual day makeup into a shimmery night out look.

If you’re a lip gloss girl, then you have a lot to choose from, as Sexy Mother Pucker comes in 7 different shades. Nudestar and Spun Sugar will give your evening makeup that extra little bit of sparkle, whilst Bare Enough and Pink-Out-Loud will complete any natural daytime look.

Performance: 5/5

My lips looked fuller after applying this lip gloss. The product was also very durable and I only had to top it up every couple of hours.

Value: 5/5

At £9.00 for 7ml from Boots, I think that Sexy Mother Pucker is  good value for money. I love the versatility of the product and its lip plumping formula is really unique. I’d definitely recommend this gloss as an addition to your  Valentine’s Day look; whether you’re heading out on a date, or going out for cocktails  with your girlfriends.

I’d love to hear what you guys thought of this product and which lip products you swear by. Let me know in the comments.
